Viva la Verve February 2018

Now this was a fun sketch!  Let me stretch my creativity a bit.  The flowers are from the SU! Tranquil Tulips Hostess set and the verse is from one of my favorite SU! sets - Flourishing Phrases.  I used Berry Burst, Peekaboo Peach and Pear Pizzazz card stock and the same for the ink with the addition of Crushed Curry on the orange colored blooms. The strip of DSP is from Painted with Love Speciality DSP in the 2018 Occasion catalog. Note the green hash lines....this was a boo boo that turned in a not too bad effect.  I accidentally got ink from the block on the rectangle stamped panel just as I was finishing up!  Since I would have started completely over I thought, what the heck - and added a few more lines. Not too shabby in my humble opinion!

Color Throwdown #480

While the baby sleeps, Gigi gets to play with her toys for a bit!  Stampin' Up! doesn't have a true lilac colored card stock so I used Wisteria Wonder and Perfect Plum for the purple component of this card. The swirly stamp is from the Falling Flowers set, the die cut of the flower is from the May Flower Thinlits, the sentiment is from the Hold onto Hope set and it is cut out with the matching die from the Cross of Hope Thinlits set.  The base card is Basic Gray. Oh, and how cute is the new basket weave embossing folder that I used on the right side of the card?  I know I'll get a lot of use from that folder for sure!  And the Basic Gray ribbon...one of the freebies from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  It has a bit of shimmer in it - which I love!

Freshly Made Sketches #324

The thing I like best about  FMS - quick and easy!  Or maybe I'm just having a good day today!  The fancy circle is from the SU! Eastern Medallion Thinlits and the sentiments are from the 2018 Sale-A-Bration Happy Wishes set.  All paper is SU - Night of Navy and Daffodil Delight.

Inspired by All the Little Things #79

This is my first time playing with "Inspired by All the Little Things."  I knew that I had a bicycle stamp in my collection (or two or three) but I wasn't in love with any of them.  I had purchased the Stampin' Up!  Build-a-Bike set and put it with my stash to put in a tag sale sometime in the future.  Just too many teeny tiny little parts. Anyway, I decided to drag it out for this card. (And I think I might be inspired to keep the set now!)  All paper used is SU! - Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Flirty Flamingo and Real Red.  The embossing folder is from Cuttlebug and the "Love" die cut is from the Tim Holtz Celebrate Thinlits set.

Color Throwdown #479

What great colors for Valentine's Day!!!  I sent out about 40 Valentine's Day cards this year, so wasn't planning on doing another Valentine themed card, but I just couldn't help myself.

I'm not sure where the cherry stamp is from, but I'm guessing it is either  a Magenta or a DeNami stamp.  It is one of my favorite stamps which I totally forgot about!  I was looking at my stamps and thinking of images that might be red, pink or gray and the case with the cherries on it practically jumped off of the shelf.  The embossing folder is Darice, the hearts are the SU! Sweet and Sassy Framelits.  The paper is all SU! - Real Red, Basic Gray and Flirty Flamingo.

I need to give props to Tim Holtz for his amazing stamp platform.  I used the platform to color the cherries. Coloring the rubber with the Stampin' Write markers I was able to add multiple layers of color and then emboss it with clear embossing powder after I was finished coloring. I love the vibrancy of the cherries.

Freshly Made Sketches #323

Howdy!  A rainy day here in Connecticut - a great day to be working on all of the various challenges that I love to work on!  This is a great sketch from FMS - fun way to use up all those scraps that we stampers tend to hoard. (I KNOW you do it to!)  I found some old SU! DSP and used them with So Saffron for the base card and an Early Espresso panel.  I have no idea where the verse "Live, Laugh, Love" came from or the cute little daisy embellishments. The daisy embossing folder is from Darice.  I did add a bit of Wisteria Wonder paper and punched out little dots of it for the center of the flowers.  On to the next challenge....

Color Throwdown #478

I've had the Stampin' Up! Paisleys & Posies set forever but this was the first time that I actually spent any time coloring each individual element. Very therapeutic!  I have a small TV on my work table which I rarely use.  I decided to put on HGTV while coloring and watched a very interesting show - Love it or List It!  I can see how one could get hooked on this show!

I used Melon Mambo, Marina Mist, Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight as my palette for this challenge.

Freshly Made Sketches #322

My house looks like a cyclone hit, but here I am playing with my toys as opposed to getting it back in order!  As soon as I post this! (as long as I hurry up and get out of my craft room before something else calls to me.)

This was a bit harder than I thought it would be.  I guess I have a hard time limiting my number of layers.  The patterned paper is from the Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP from the 2018 Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog (pg. 13). The tree is from the Vertical Greetings set (AC pg. 50). I colored the tree using the direct to rubber technique with the Garden Green, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede Stampin' Write markers.  The base card is Daffodil Delight and the mats are Rich Razzleberry.
